Strawberry and rhubarb french toast from Nookies. Tasted only okay (way too eggy for a dessert), but the rest of the meal was incredible.

Sweets orgie up in dis hizzaouz! Oh what I wouldn’t do to you in that glass case…

Burnt honey ice cream coated in sesame chocolate hard shell from Blackbird courtesy of Fete. Ummmm things got a little intimate between me and da cream.

Kicked off the weekend with my berry tiramisu. Hadn’t made this in a long while and my recipe is in storage along with all my other belongings, but I’m glad to say my memory didn’t fail me. I was able to whip it up in a faithful recreation.

Went to Ouzo’s (formerly our fav Greek restaurant Anise) for din din and ordered the Bogatsa, a vanilla and lemon custard baked in filo dough. The owner informed us it’s her own ya-ya’s recipe. Ya-ya would be very proud, it’s delicious.

Raspberry cake from Ni.Do Cafe in Eastside Miami. So freakin’ good, but their lemon cake wins hands down.

Two is always better than one so we ordered two desserts during our last visit to Ouzo’s. This is yogurt and honey, ideal for those of you who were born without a sweet tooth.

Slice of my homemade baked french toast. Made with fresh challach bread from Acme Bakery around the corner and chocolate chips.

Best recipe for lazy brunch makers… baked french toast! Stole the recipe from a Pinterest pinner and added semi-sweet chocolate chips because since when is adding chocolate to anything a bad thing.
Double layered challah bread and a brown sugar glaze at the bottom and top of the casserole is key.

Just looking at this lemon cake makes me so happy, I can’t hold back my grin. When sweets bring out that much sunshine from a cynical soul, you know this shit is good. Gastrodamus and I devoured the entire slice at Ni.Do Cafe.

Dim sum from Philip Ho in Sunny Isles. First time having sesame balls, I didn’t expect them to be sweet but no complaints.

Beautiful bonbons from Le Macaron. Le sigh.
-Braised Bombshell
Sometimes it’s the utter beauty of a snack or food that makes you remember that cooking, baking and brainstorming flavors is a goddammit art.
Le Macaron made me remember that oft-overlooked fact. If you’re one of these brainwashed, trend-seeking foodophiles, then you’ve succumbed to the macaroon - THE cookie of the moment (yes macaroons are freakn’ cookies, get over it).
Bitchiness aside, these macaroons were incredibly good. We ordered the Sicilian pistachio and the blue currant. The bonbons took me back to a chocolatier in Budapest with their elaborate details; Gastrodamus ordered one pumpkin and one s’mores.

Simple but surprising mango panna cotta from Ni.Do Caffe. They never seem to disappoint, this was on the house. One more reason to be a regular.

Chocolate mousse from Rouge… the kitchen ran out of creme brulee that night so this was our Plan B. Insert broken heart here.
