Homemade Moroccan (chicken) meatballs… not a great pic but they came out amazing. I added golden raisin and apricot to the sauce.

Braised bombshell and I decided to give the frog’s legs at Schnitzel Haus a try, and it’s totally true what they say, it tastes like chicken, but also kinda like fish. -Gastrodamus
Shake Shack’s Poochini before Tribi Monster attacked it with full chubby wubby force: vanilla custard, caramel, and doggie biscuits.

An adventure Charlie <glub glub>… a pizza adventure
So after passing by Harry’s Pizzeria a million times and making note that I have try to out the latest restaurant to open up in the Design District, my world was shaken this morning when my co-worker informed me it’s Michael Schwartz’s latest venture.
After lashing myself 100 times with a whisk for letting news like this slip right on by my peripheral, I rationalizing concluded that today’s lunch will just have to be at Harry’s with my co-worker as my hostage - I mean guest.
So nomsters, stay tuned to the BVSC tumblr page. A sniffly cold and endless nights ordering in while I stayed glued to my couch have rendered my posts abandoned. I shall remedy this affliction, preferably high on Dayquil.

So this was hands down my favorite bite at Egg & Dart: zucchini croquettes. The dill proved a gracious surprise and had me scarf down 5 out of the six croquettes all on my own. Oink Oink

Gastrodamus and I stopped by a brand spanking new Greek restaurant, Egg & Dart, this weekend and I finally set aside my laziness to post for y’all. Don’t ask me what on earth eggs or darts have to do with Greece ‘cause I ain’t gotta helluvah clue, but their octopus - though a bit overcooked and thus tough - had a nice smoky taste to it.

Gastrodamus dabbled in some snapper at Baires Grill this weekend.
Gastrodamus and I finally made it to the newly re-located Hiro’s Yakko-San in North Miami Beach. I’ll admit it, the posh new decor made me nervous; what if they lost their authentic Japanese heart for the sake of pleasing fickle Miami trendsetters? Fear not Yakko-San loyalists, the food is still the best damn Japanese fare MIA has. The litmus test, Nira Moyashi (bean sprouts and garlic chives) - so freakn’ simple and delicious.

Sometimes you just gotta pho it all! Courtesy of Stir Moon.
Thrillist gave us the heads up on a secret dining society called Txoko a few weeks ago so we decided to dive in head first. Cool concept, food was just alright - although mad props to the serrano croquettes. The menu is different every time, the clandestine website adds to the allure, and the surprise menu gave this non-beef eater an excuse to try short rib.

Along the way on deltacookie’s farewell food crawl, we stopped at Joey’s in Wyndwood. Besides the bottle of Prosecco, I enjoyed a vegan carrot soup. As awlays, I had to share with y’all.

The cafe that won BVSC’s heart «thump thump»: Buena Vista Bistro
If you ever find yourself in the Design District/Midtown for brunch time, you MUST (yes that’s a command) order the French toast. Best in Miami, period. I devoured mine and had to close my eyes every time I hit a crunchy caramelized burnt edge.

Tucked inside one of Midtown’s many gallery spaces lies Michelle Bernstein’s latest love-child: Crumbs on Parchment. I had lunch here the other day with a co-worker since Black Angus kept on peaking my interest by foursquaring the damn place every other day. So I succumbed to curiosity and ordered some lentil soup (careful it’s not vegetarian as I sadly found out two spoonfuls in), the pulled chicken with goat cheese and peaches sandwich, and some strawberry tart. What I love about this place (besides the sugary sweet grandma decor) is the baked goods: scones, cakes, muffins, everything is homemade and easy on the eyes.

So there’s a new mom and pop place around my corner called, don’t be turned off by the odd juxtaposition, Egyptian Pizza. If you’re like me, the name leaves you scratching your head but once you overcome the initial confusion the great service and authentic dishes will make this a repeat stop. I’ve already been here three times… I call it a lovable addiction.
