Octopus salad from DB Bistro
Octopus, marcona almond puree, orange slices, arugula and black olives. The almond puree was quite a pleasant and welcome surprise.

Octopus salad from Sake Room
This was by far my favorite and most surprising dish of the evening. The sunomono (pickled veggies) were the perfect contrast for the texture and taste of the thinly sliced octopus. The dressing was a peppery vinegar based citrus and those little bits of cilantro scattered throughout the sunomono were brilliant.

Don’t ask me what on earth eggs or darts have to do with Greece ‘cause I ain’t gotta helluvah clue, but their octopus - though a bit overcooked and thus tough - had a nice smoky taste to it.
