Me standing on our booth for the sake of this shot at Nookies. Gastrodamus (hand shown) and I split the vegetarian friendly Green Goddess - eggs, swiss chard, asparagus, swiss cheese, and hash browns. We may have found our version of Icebox in Chitown.

I apologize for the blatant flash but I had to document the gooey, burnt crunch cheesiness of my baked rigatoni from Tratterio Demi in Evanston. You’re welcome!

Went out on a limb and cooked with an item I’ve never used before: red lentils. Nothing is safer and masks inexperience better than soup so I improvised a red lentil and chickpea soup. It came out amazing, definite keeper.

Our breakfast of confusion: Sunny side egg over a masala veggie patty, some rolls that never quite made it into crescent form, avocado/tomato and off camera my saganaki beta test. Ahhh breakfast just like mom used to make O_o

Now that I live in Chitown Maximus, I’ll most likely eventually miss some things from MIA besides the sun (the snow is distracting me with all its winterland snowcone wonder). I know the first thing I’ll reminisce about are Cuban pastelitos, so I thanked the gods when I discovered burekas. They’re middle eastern equivalents, praise Jesus! These were stuffed with feta and cottage cheese. Now all I have to do is convince someone to make one with cream cheese and guava, cause dem da breaks.
